Mr.& Mrs. Shawn` Carter! It's Official!
Peace Yall,
As reported on GlobalGrind: READ THE STORY HERE! The mega mogul Jay-Z and Miss (now Mrs)mega mogul and stage genius Beyonce' have tied the knot (cha ching) jumped the platinum broom and any other hip marriage related saying that are available.
Congrats to the both of them and I'm sure that they will see much success in a life together, one thing I can say about Jay is that he will protect her with his life and keep the privacy private.
I must admit is feels a bit strange for those two to marry because it's just not something normal in the world of R&B, Pop and Hip-Hop for two such well known artists such as these two to connect and get hitched.
They hooked it up Bonnie and Clyde 2008 style and I hope they release some pictures soon, but knowing the two of them...there will be a magazine release so we can get paid.
And a word for the haters: If ya kill yourself now you might be able to be reborn to Jay and Beyonce and then you can hate up close. LOL
Peace,
Asaad

Does Hip-Hop Support Barack Obama?
Peace yall,
Now that is a good question. YouTube video not withstanding the Hip-Hop Community has been eerily silent on the question of ParlorTricks right now and more specifically Barack Obama versus Bill's Wife...my bad Hilary Rodham Clinton.
Where are you Hip-Hop family? Who do you support? Who do you feel out of all the candidates best represents your ideas and ideals?
Well just recently as reported on Global Grind (The Russell Simmons Project) Mr. Hip-Hop Pop himself has officially endorsed Barack Obama. You can read the article here: http://www.globalgrind.com/ContentDetail.aspx?cid=12573 now I'm in Cali so we already put down our votes for the folks (I put my mark on Barack) what sealed the deal for me is that BET interview and him openly saying that he listens to Kanye, Jay-Z and Common in his iPod. Can Hilary even throw up the Roc sign? I know her husband just semi apologized for the unfair drug sentencing he was a part of establishing. Now I don't know about you but if I spent the last 15 years in prison for slangin' on the block and someone told me that I did 10 more years than the white boy moving powder I might be a little upset about it. But I guess saying sorry makes the jail time so worth it.
By the way...Hilary was there, remember she is the one with all the "experience".
Who do you support Hip-Hop Community?

The Farrakhan Test
Peace Yall,
Well once again we have the true motives of this country in your face. Since when does a person become "O.K., cool, a good boy or 'one of us'" after successfully answering the Farrakhan Question? Obama has now entered the Big Time! When they publicly FORCE you to repudiate Minister Farrakhan then you have truly arrived into the inner sanctuary of "White World" (Jewish Friendship). Now for those that are not clear or that have blurry vision if you are not going to be friendly to Israel then you don't get to play with the big folks. So the Farrakhan question is always on the table.
The web site www.finalcall.com reported:
"Min. Farrakhan went on to say that the litmus test concerning himself given to Sen. Obama should also be given to Sen. Hillary Clinton and other presidential candidates.
The Minister said he did not want the "mischief makers" to use his words to try to hurt Mr. Obama or himself."
I would caution Obama to be very careful as to not allow those that have a history of throwing the rock and hiding the hand and causing division among families to separate him from those that he has long identified with. Obama very skillfully handled Mrs. Clintons "forced - make you repudiate Minister Farrakhan" banter.
If saying I don't like somebody makes you happy then here you go I don't like such and such????? What the hell does that matter to anything? Or does it matter more than the American public actually knows? 23 years ago it was Reverend Jackson who was forced to denounce his own Black family to the delight of those that have a history of hate for all things not them. And they have made him do so for the last 23 years.
Mr. Obama must continue to be wise in how he handles the more sinister elements of this country and world least he find himself on the opposite side of all of the accolades of the people. Not that he is any Jesus but if you remember the story the same multitude that were screaming Hosanna in the highest ended up being the same folks screaming "Crucify Him"!

The Next R&B SUPERSTAR - Shaun H. Mykals

Peace Yall,
Wow! I must admit when I first saw this cat on GlobalGrind.com I thought to myself "This kid must be wack", so not only was I wrong I was TOTALLY WRONG. Shaun Mykals is a Hot vocalist and I can see this dude going places in the industry of music. After watching the video for "Cold World" on http://shaunmykals.imeem.com/ I am impressed. Smooth, easy on the ear and professional in every way Shaun let's you know that there is hope in RnB music and Mr. Mykals is the future. Good job Shaun.
So everyone check out Shaun at:

P.S. The video would have been hotter if you would have shot it in an ice house and was singing to some women encased in ice (metaphor for what your lyrics were about). Frozen hearts and frozen minds. And as you sung the ice began to melt. End scene a nice fireplace and a stream of water on the floor leading to the bedroom.
Check out this blog article.
Peace,
I'm here in Olympia, Washington and checking out some news in the area. Just found out that Dead Prez had a show here that ended in some People on Police violence (better known as get-back). Check out this blog article from Bombs and Shields Blog and leave a comment.

State of the Black Union
Peace yall,
O.K. so Hillary showed up. And man was that painful...she was up there doing that canned prepared speech and the folks were not responding. And everytime the cameras showed the audience you can see that the Hip Hop Generation was not feeling her at all. Sure she got a few claps, I'm sure that the bulk of the audience had some basic Black Home Training. I kind of felt bad for her up there all white and all alone in a room full of Black Folks that I know would have been bouncing off the walls had Barak showed up. Good for him he didn't as I felt it was a political mistake for Hillary to go when no one else would. Tavis and his request had it's own political reasoning (who would have tuned in otherwise?).
Mrs. Clinton needs some young Hip Hop based folks in her cam-pain as advisors. And for all that hype talk and bullshit about her husband being the "First black President" her political team doesn't give me that impression. You can blow your horn or get your horn blown...it still don't make you BLACK.
Hip Hop Community we have some hard choices to make this election. Mr. Obama has my nod so far if for no other reason because he had the balls to say that he listens to Jay-Z, Common, Nas and others in his IPod. Keep it reall homie, keep it real.

Lazy, Crazy and Very Afraid
Peace,
This is the first post so I decided to keep it brief and to the point. I've decided to get back into the business of music, after a 12 year layoff I guess the "filth and flarn" as Eddie Murphy so eloquently put it when mocking Bill Cosby, wasn't enough to keep me away.
I came across a young cat named Naseer. He's got some serious flame and he seems hungry so I decided to put some energy behind him and attempt to manage his journey.
One thing I have found over the years working with a wide range of folks is that most of the people who pretend to want to be in the business of music really don't. Sure they love to watch the videos, and dress the part and boy do they love the studio and showing off the new song to all and I mean ALL of their friends and family (FREE) but when it comes to actual effort...that is where they fall off. Have you ever tried to lead a horse to water and then make 'em drink? I haven't either but I hear that it's difficult unless that horse is damned thirsty. Well you can point out the path to success for a person but getting them to read a book you would have an easier time getting that horse to not only drink but freestyle to a loop of "Buffalo Girls".
I am reminded when I deal with folks that yell: "I want to be a star! or I'm trying to get me a record contract!", that was one of the reasons I left this game to begin with.
Well all complaints aside Naseer might prove different. Yes he is a little hard headed (classic artist mentality) and stubborn (ditto) however he is smart enough to know that he does not know everything. Now getting him to realize that he does not want to be a "Record Company Hoe" is my biggest challenge. Yes this youngster still thinks that Major Label Deals are the way to go even though they are dead and gone. It's a digital world Naseer, log on and get paid.
I would like for everyone to send a word of (stern) encouragement on your view of the game and the chances of success with a Major Label. All of you MC's out there let this young dude know that more cats then him has got mad flow.
Oh! Can anyone tell me why a large majority of Hip Hop artists are afraid to speak out? I figure it's because the Record Company Pimp might do a smack down if they do. What say ye?
P.S. This blog is for the rants and raving of a passionate Hip Hop Community, all topics Hip Hop, Business and Political are accepted. Keep it real and keep it straight.
